There are several awesome tools you can use to ensure that help you come up with awesome content ideas and also indicates whether people are interested in reading about it!
Because, well let’s face it. If people don’t want to read about it- there isn’t much point writing about it is there?
Here are my TOP 3 tools I use when I am lacking inspiration:
Feedly provides the content you need to accelerate your research, marketing, and sales. It easily integrates with things like IFTTT, Buffer and Instapaper which go on to make your life even easier! That’s another blog altogether!
Buzzsumo is a super helpful search tool that tracks content on all social networking sites and ranks them based on the number of shares on Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, Google+, and Pinterest. It monitors content by topic or user and uses an advanced search engine to deliver accurate results.
Nuzzel allows you to see the top news stories being shared by your friends and friends of friends. Nuzzel also makes it really easier for you to pull together a simple newsletter to share with your following.
My Tricks of the Trade For Content Ideas
Here are a couple of tricks I use which some might not think about when it comes to content creation ideas.
It might be because I am lazy, but I prefer to say effective and efficient!
Twitter Lists are Packed with Content
These are a little gem when it comes to content creators! If you have a trusted list on Twitter page which only has the people that share the best quality content on and that you are constantly sharing.
Why not use it for inspiration?
You know that these people will have done their due diligence to ensure that the topic they have chosen is relevant and worth writing about.
If you are lacking time and see that a few of your trusted sources have written about the same subject, you could do aroundupp blog. There is value in content curation just as much as creation!

Facebook Groups are a Content Idea Haven
Is your ideal client currently on Facebook?
If so they are probably in a Facebook group asking questions that you can be solving for them!
There will be discussion topics and questions which you can use to write blogs about or post about on social media.
If you know people are asking the question it is obviously a problem that they need solving. You can be that person!
FAQs is Content Ideas Done for You!
This is my favourite!
I have a Trello board FULL of questions I have been asked and pull them out the bag when I am feeling a little brain dead! You can use google docs or a notebook if you prefer. Just whichever system you choose – stick to it!
No matter what industry you work in, there will always be FAQ that your prospective clients, new clients, and long-standing clients will ask! They are helping you and you can thank them and inform them you will write a video or create a blog for them! Chances are if one person is asking the question, other people will want to know the answer too.
Just give them a brief answer and tell them to look out for you blog with the full answer and share it if they find it useful 😉
You Have Plenty of Content Ideas in Your Head
You eat, sleep and breathe what you do. You could talk about it in your sleep if you needed to -I bet sometimes you do! So why is it when it comes to writing content you have no idea where to start.
It’s like finding a needle in a haystack right?
Here is how you make it easier!
You use a mind map app or a blank piece of paper to brainstorm.
You write down the core subjects of your business, so for me that would be; productivity, systemisation, tools, planning, marketing systems, social media systems, time management etc.
Then under each heading I come up with 4-6 different topics I could write about. If I am struggling I will just search the work on google and see what comes up.
By the end of it you will have at least a few months worth of content to SCHEDULE into your diary or calendar. The reason scheduled is in caps is if you don’t schedule it in – it won’t happen!
One per week is ideal! I like to work 3 months in advance so I have a clear plan and can work my social media in too.
Action Points for Content Idea Creation
Decide what method(s) you are going to use and put it in your schedule to do daily. Have a system that works for you and the way you work. A way you can easily access whether out and about or at home.
Once you have a system for creating killer content then all you have to figure out is how to publish, schedule and distribute it to get the most out of it. I will leave that for another blog!
